I think buy an iPhone SE 3 is a better idea you will have a lot of more features.The iPod touch 6 at iOS 12 an the 5 at iOS 9…
Unfortunately no the last iPod touch (7 gen) not support iOS 16. Also the iPod touch 7 will maybe have another update for iWork (page, number and keynote). The iPod touch 7 will be compatible with iOS 15.7.3 that normally well be released. The iPod touch 6 will maybe have an update like iOS 12.5.7 but maybe not. Unfortunately the iPod touch 1,2,3,4 and 5 will not have updates in 2023 normally. The iPod touch still have updates in 2023 ?
